History
Although it started as a humble boardshort company, Quiksilver is now a global boardriding lifestyle brand. However, our vision to create products that inspire people to get out there and have fun has remained unchanged. These days, that means we offer a diverse product line including a complete clothing collection, mountainwear, accessories, eyewear, watches, footwear and wetsuits.
TODAY
Kauli Vaast wins gold at the 2024 summer games on the legendary wave of Teahupoo, Tahiti. A historic and symbolic victory making him the first Frenchman to win a gold medal in surfing.
2025
The Quiksilver Women’s collection was launched to share the brand’s energy and attitude with all genders. It was well-received around the world and quickly became a staple in wardrobes from the streets to the beach.
2019
Celebrate the past. Innovate the future. Live in the now. That has been Quiksilver’s motto since the beginning. In 2019, the brand celebrated its 50th birthday by doubling down on the next 50 years of adventure.
2019
After recycling over 100 million plastic bottles and turning them into products, Quiksilver received a Champions of Sustainability award from Repreve. The brand uses the award as inspiration to keep doing better.
2018
After years of research and development, Quiksilver released the AirLift — a vest that utilizes carbon-dioxide cartridges to help bring the wearer to the surface in big wave hold-downs. The AirLift quickly became a staple at the world’s premiere big waves events.
2017
Rio Waida won the Quiksilver Young Guns Surf event against the best 18 and under surfers in the world. Rio was the first Indonesian ever to take top honors, which showed to the international scale of modern surfing.
2016
Candide Thovex released “One of Those Days” clip. It quickly went viral and became one of the most played skiing videos on YouTube with over 5 million views.
2013
Travis Rice broke the mold of snowboarding movies and released The Art of Flight. The film captured the attention of the mainstream and earned the reputation of being a gamechanger.

2009
Quiksilver launched The Crossing, a seven-year expedition that circum-navigated the globe to find surf, engage with local cultures and conduct scientific research on the health of coral reefs. It traveled to over 56 countries and discovered more than 115 new waves.
1996
Quiksilver Mountainwear was born when dead inventory from boardshort fabric was sewn together to create jackets for a few of the employees. After seeing how much interest this created on the mountain, the idea expanded and became a full offering of boards, boots, bindings, accessories and outerwear.
1996
Quiksilver threw a curveball to surfing’s World Tour by holding a contest at G-Land. The event instantly became iconic. Surf travelers were inspired to broaden their horizons and the concept of a Dream Tour was born.
1995
Kelly Slater signed with Quiksilver and went on to win 11 world titles, revolutionizing the sport. Quiksilver began manufacturing wetsuits that same year.
1990
Quiksilver and Tom Carroll made surfing history when the 2x world champion signed a new contract. Not only was it the professional surfer’s first million-dollar deal, it was also the industry’s first exclusive head-to-toe agreement.
1988
Harry Hodge, Jeff Hakman, Brigitte Darrigrand and John Winship were granted the license to manufacture and distribute Quiksilver throughout Europe.
1984
Quiksilver introduced Echo Beach boardshorts featuring radical print designs with polka dots, harlequins, stars and checkers. As a result, a generation of bold surf fashion was born.
1980
Jeff Hakman and Bob McKnight obtained the license to start Quiksilver USA in Newport Beach, California.
1976
Alan Green and John Law created the first-ever pair of Quiksilver boardshorts in Torquay, Australia. A dream came to life.
